The Renda Segura Program is a program of the Lisbon City Council (CML), whose goal is to guarantee, on the one hand, the payment of fair rents to the owners and, on the other hand, the existence of affordable properties for the tenants.
With this project, CML creates a bridge between property owners and those who wish to rent a house in Lisbon. Using tabulated prices according to the area and number of rooms of the house, CML acts as a lessee of the properties and sub-leases them to the interested parties.
The program, lasting until December 31st, 2021, establishes an initial duration of the lease contracts of 5 years unless there is opposition from the landlord or CML to the renewal of the contract, made by letter, up to 150 days before its renewal.
To access this Program, landlords must have their tax situation regularised in national territory and they must never have accessed housing programmes.
Once the lease contract between CML and the landlord has been made, the houses are raffled by the applicants, who apply for the Renda Acessível Program.
In this way, CML guarantees the right to housing for all individuals and guarantees the certain and on-time payment of rent to landlords.
