Foreign investment in residential real estate amounted to nearly 350 million euros in the first half of the year, according to Confidencial Imobiliário. Their average value is almost 500 thousand euros.
This amount of investment was made in 759 operations, which gives an average value of 453 thousand euros for each property.
The investment encompassed the Lisbon Urban Rehabilitation Area and represents a 10% increase over the previous year.
These investors come from 70 different countries, with France topping the list (21% of investments), followed by China (14%) and Brazil (8%).
In 2018, foreigners invested almost 695 million euros, a record value, highlights the same source.
The data also reveal that in the case of Santa Maria Maior – Baixa, Chiado, Mouraria, Castelo, and Alfama – 80% of housing investment made in the first half was made by foreigners.
