Between January and September this year, Portugal granted 176 gold visas to Brazilian citizens. According to SEF (Foreigners and Borders Service) data, the investment raised increased by 46.5% compared to the same period in 2018.
The most common type of investment is real estate – see here the investment modalities of Golden Visa.
Brazilian citizens choose Portugal, mainly because it is a safe country, sharing the same language, and a not so different climate climate and for easy adaptation.
This trend is expected to increase as from November next it will be more expensive to obtain the EB-5 visa (investment visa similar to Golden Visa) in the United States of America (USA). The decision was confirmed by the US Government and the minimum investment amount to obtain EB-5 will be R $ 3.6 million (US $ 900 thousand), instead of the previous R $ 2 million (US $ 500 thousand).
As stated before, Portugal is considered the new Miami for Brazilian citizens and this trend tends to increase.
