The technology summit organization announced on Friday, November 1, that tickets for this year’s edition sold out within three days of starting. Web Summit will have 70,469 participants, 2,150 startups, and 239 partners.
The event will take place from 4 to 7 November at Altice Arena and FIL, Parque das Nações, Lisbon, and will keep the format of recent years: bringing together researchers, scientists, politicians, celebrities, and CEOs of large (or small) companies. (and even some robots) to talk about technology, politics, and innovation. In addition to the main stage at the Altice Arena, there are 23 stages dedicated to specific themes and over 1200 guest speakers.
This edition is attended by numerous tech and entrepreneur personalities such as Guo Ping (Huawei), Michel Barnier (EU – Brexit), Katherine Mayer (Wikipedia), Brad Smith (Microsoft), and Michael Kratsios (White House – USA)
Over the last few years, the Portuguese Government has been trying to attract a growing number of startups, highly qualified people, and entrepreneurs. For this reason, it has been creating new types of visas and mechanisms to speed up and facilitate the issuance of residence permits for these entities. Some examples are the Tech Visa, Startup Visa, and D2 Visa:
Tech Visa – Company certification program, which aims to attract highly qualified professionals from foreign countries to the European Union to work in Portugal through the granting of visas and residence permits.
Startup Visa – This is a new type of residence visa for foreign entrepreneurs interested in starting an innovative company in the country.
D2 Visa – To attract foreign entrepreneurs to the country, Portuguese law provides for a special visa for citizens wishing to undertake an investment activity in Portugal.
