Of the 179 Tech Visa Certified companies, 100 have already issued terms of liability to hire 695 foreign workers.
More than 700 highly qualified foreign professionals have so far seen their entry and residence processes in Portugal approved under the Tech Visa and StartUp Visa programs, aimed to attract entrepreneurs and skilled workers.
The Tech Visa program aims to certify companies to facilitate the hiring process of foreign workers, while the StartUp Visa, launched at the beginning of 2018, aims to attract foreign entrepreneurs who want to extend their activity to Portugal or want to create startups in Portugal.
Although the Tech Visa Program was initially created with a focus on technology-based companies, the Program has changed over time and is now broader in scope. Still, 93% of certified companies are linked to the IT world.
The certified companies with the most terms of responsibility issued carry out computer consulting (57), computer programming (36), and other information technology (20) activities.
The average age of these 695 foreign workers is 32 years old.
Regarding StartUp Visa, the Government says that 63 entry visas and 35 residence permits were issued by the end of October, with Brazil, Russia, and Iran “being the main countries of origin for these highly qualified foreign entrepreneurs”.
