Children (natural and adopted) of those who acquired citizenship by naturalisation because they are descendants of Sephardic Jews can obtain Portuguese Citizenship, although they have to comply with different requirements, documents and procedures.
For example, the procedures are different depending on whether the child was born before or after the parent became Portuguese.
Adopted children and children conceived through artificial insemination or surrogate motherhood (commonly known as “surrogacy”) may also be entitled to Portuguese citizenship.
Citizenship is never immediate. It is necessary to analyse the facts and the documents of the descendant to understand if it fulfils all the requirements, which vary according to the type of case:
Child Assignment
Acquisition Child
Adopted Child
* In the citizenship process the client receives a certificate of the Portuguese birth certificate and has the obligation to request the issuance of the “Citizen Card” and in possession of the latter, if desired, it can also request the issuance of the “Portuguese Passport”. Both documents can be issued at the Portuguese Embassy and/or Consulate or directly in Portugal. Ask us how.
